Family portraits
Why choose Stuart to create your family portrait?

All families are different and when it comes to capturing them through photography, I want what makes your family different to shine through!
I’ve been a family photographer for over 35 years, and during that time I have learned that the best way to ensure that we’ll create a memorable family portrait is through making sure that your family is relaxed, in a location where they’re comfortable and most importantly, happy! Sure, the camera, lights, backdrops, posing and the location selection are important, after all, your portrait needs to be technically sound. But it takes more than that to create an art piece that you will want to look at day after day.
I want to get to know your and your family, to understand what makes you tick and how you all interact with each other. That’s why my sessions are fun. I goof around a bit so that while we’re having fun, you can relax and be yourselves. It’s important to treat everyone with respect and kindness, including kids. This is a lesson my dad taught me and it has proven invaluable.
That’s how I can capture their true essence and create something that’s timeless for you, which is what we all want.
HOW We Work
Our stress-free process to create your family portrait
Over the years I’ve found that the more you tell me about your family, the better you will enjoy your portrait. Your Complimentary Family Portrait Design Consultation will take about 30 minutes. I’ll ask a bunch of questions. You’ll tell me all about your family, what makes them tick, what goals you expect from the photo session, even if you don’t know yet! Then we’ll come up with a plan to make it all happen. I’ll give you a very fair and accurate estimate on how much your family portrait will cost. Then we’ll come up with a unique plan on how and where and when we will create the most amazing portrait of your family.

Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal time for my family photo session?
Every family is different, but in our 35 years of photographing families, we feel that any SIGNIFICANT Family Change (Births, Graduations, Weddings, Anniversary, New Home) is the perfect time to update your family portrait. These important times in your family history are the ones that you don’t want to forget. Relive those joys every day with a beautiful portrait.
Where is your studio located?
My studio is located in the lower portion of my Residential Portrait Gallery in Marietta Ga. It occupies the entire bottom floor, complete with a private changing room and lighted make-up table. Over 500 sq. ft. of space gives you lots of room for posing and moving.

The Initial Portrait Design Consultation is Free with no obligation to commission us.
The Creation Fees is $175 and includes the following:
- Unconditional Money-Back Guarantee – If we don’t fulfill our promise, you don’t pay!

How much is it going to cost me for family portraits?
During your consultation, we will discuss all of your options and what you are hoping for. After that, I will give you an honest estimate of what I feel you can plan on spending. I do not believe that professional portraiture should break the bank. I do offer extended payment plans for no additional fee and I work within everyone’s budget. Most of my clients can plan on spending between $500 and $800 and get a large portrait for their home and several to share as gifts.
What should I wear for my family session?
I treat every family as a unique group. Your personality, as a group and as individuals is unique to you. So your clothing should reflect that. During your complimentary consultation, I ask questions about where you are most comfortable, the ideal location, where you might display your portrait, and all the things that will help you enjoy your artwork to its fullest. Clothing plays a critical part in creating the Perfect Portrait, so this is something that needs to be discussed and will be based on your ultimate goals.
How many photos do you take during a normal family session?
The number of images created at your session is less important than the Variety of images we will create. By offering a greater variety of poses, groupings and scenes (for outdoor portraits), you’ll be sure to get many beautiful images to choose from. We normally give you 75 – 100 images to select from. Larger groups will have a larger selection.
Can I bring my pet to the photoshoot?
Yes, absolutely! If you would like your pet to be part of your family portrait, then I will make sure that they are. Let me know early on so that when we’re discussing locations for the photoshoot, we can make sure that they’re all pet-friendly.
When and how will I select my favorite images from my session?
One to Two weeks after your session, we schedule an in-person or virtual Purchase and Reveal Session when you’ll see your gorgeous portraits for the very first time.
Two Options:
- Big Reveal; Schedule a time to come back to the studio to view your portraits on our Giant Movie Screen, to see every detail, and make your selections. Refreshments and goodies make this a perfect prelude to Date Night!
- Interactive Live Reveal: Schedule an On-Line Live viewing of your images with your photographer to make your selections,
Your order will be ready to pick up in 3 – 4 weeks after your selection.
Do you recommend studio sessions over outdoor sessions?
Your final objective (where / how you’d like to display your portraits) is how I begin the process of determining where the session should be. If an Outdoor session fits with your lifestyle, then we discuss where that session should be. There are many locations to choose from. If you’re looking for a more formal family portrait, then perhaps the studio is the place to create that.
There seems to be more available variety when out on location, but many locations are perfect for exquisite Formal Family Portraits.
Can I bring my parents or extended family members and pets to be in the pictures?
Yes! We actually encourage all of your family to join in on this experience. There’s no extra charge for extra people. Pets ARE part of the family, so they’re always welcome.
Which days of the week can I schedule my session?
Family Sessions are normally Thurs – Sun. During your complimentary Initial Design Consultation, we’ll select the best time and date for your session. Mid-week and Holiday sessions are available as well.
I’ve never been photographed by a pro. will you help us pose?
Everyone asks this! Of course we will help you every step of the way. Some people are natural in front of the camera. Most are not. We go through a fairly quick process of getting everyone relaxed and comfortable before starting the photo part of the session. We use classic yet natural posing techniques that allow you to look and feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera. No one wants a picture of them looking stiff or awkward, We’ve been doing this for a long time and can pretty much guarantee that you’ll have (almost) as much fun as Stuart has at his sessions.
Can I purchase digital files, albums and wall art from you?
Absolutely. Stuart Hasson Studios offers a complete line of professionally produced image presentation options. We offer Framed Canvas Portraits, Gallery Wrapped Canvas Portraits, Metal and Acrylic Prints, a complete line of Heirloom Folio Boxes that contain up to 25 matted portrait prints (which include digital copies), as well as a selection of Digital Packages to purchase.
