What Is Newborn Photography

Newborn Photography; What is it? (…and why you shouldn’t miss the chance)

On a rolling scale of Important Events to photograph, taking pictures of your Newborn rolls right to the top!  I don’t believe there’s any event (graduation, wedding, pregnancy (and you all know how passionate I am about that!), getting on the bus for the 1st time…) more significant than creating wonderful images of your newborn baby.  Especially when we’re talking about your FIRST baby!

This little person is an absolute Angel when they arrive into your arms.  Is anything more important than them right now?  I didn’t think so!  More Emotions than you can count.  More love than you’ve ever felt.  More dreams than you’ll ever be able to keep track of.  But that’s okay because they’re here, safe in your arms.  All the rest will be figured out in time.

Ah, but time… evil enemy of every momma!  Time passes.  We all change.  And Baby grows up (what a Kill-Joy!).

PHOTOGRAPHER MAN IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY… and the memories J

You know these chubby little arms and legs and cheeks and,… well everything’s chubby right now! are going to change in the blink of an eye.  How are you going to remember every little chubby part of your little one?  ‘Oh, I’ll remember’.  HA!

Take pictures!  LOTS OF PICTURES.  You’ll NEVER remember everything (science has proven that).  So kept that darn cellphone with you (of course you will, anyway) and keep the lens clean for goodness sake (unless you like the soft glowyness of a dirty lens J).

Newborns change more in their 1st year than they do during any other period of their lives

So get lots of rest (another HA!), eat well (after you feed your baby) and be ready with your camera (cellphone) to take pictures at every opportunity.  Call a pro (ME) when you really want to hang onto the memories!

About Stuart Hasson Studios

I want to scream this from the Mountain Tops: PORTRAITS ARE IMPORTANT!
As I get older, this feeling reveals itself so often.  We say it WAY too often; “I wish I had just one more, better, current, great (whatever) picture of my Dad, sister, best friend or child… and now I’ll never have it.”  It doesn’t have to be that heavy,  but the feeling is the same.  Portraits are Important.

This image reminds me of when I could jump off the porch and still walk 🙂
We were in Falmouth, ME with a client family creating wonderful images with my retired Hasselblad (film) camera.  I’m back there now (in my mind) and I can smell the warm sea breeze, hear the kids laughing and the parents putting up with my dumb jokes.  I was on top of the world.

This picture is about 30 years old but it brings me back every time I look at it.  THAT’s why I’m a photographer: To help people REMEMBER all of the good things in their Life!
